Application to Expand the UK’s Second Biggest Wind Farm

An application has been submitted to construct a 27MW solar farm at the Crystal Rig Wind Farm.

Wind farm operators Fred. Olsen Renewables Limited, has submitted an application to construct and operate  a solar electricity generating station adjacent to the existing Crystal Rig IV Wind Farm, with a capacity of 27MW.

Crystal Rig, situated about 10 miles north west of Duns, is currently the second largest wind farm in the UK.

By 2025 it will consist of 102 turbines and will generate over 260 MW of electricity, according to the developer.

The solar farm application has been submitted to Scottish Borders Council (here) and a determination is expected by 1 November.
