Fred Olsen Renewables has decided not to proceed with its planned Hearthstanes wind farm, planned for a site on the Hearthstanes Estate, about two miles south of the village of Tweedsmuir.
The developer has cited the reason for withdrawal as the ‘challenging and complex wind resource’ at the location.
The project proposed eight turbines up to 200 metres high, with a generating capacity of over 50MW.
The Norwegian energy company has other wind farms under development in the region including Lees Hill, Scawd Law Wind Farm and Crystal Rig Wind Farm in the Lammermuirs.
